Didsbury TOC 2nd's 10 – KENDAL 2nd's 48

Kendal were in no mood for Didsbury to do the double over them having lost at Mint Bridge already. The fixture was played at Bowden Rugby Club due to Didsbury been under water.

Kendal started brightly on an awful pitch making any sort of running rugby extremely difficult. Kendal were missing there usual 10 Boardley to injury so the versatile Potter stepped in and linked both backs and forwards well all afternoon. Kendal's forwards got the upper hand early on in both scrummage and lineout the story of the afternoon. Rees Tomlinson showing great handling in the line all day. Ross was first over the line after extreme pressure and several scrums for an unconverted try. Wharton, Troughton, and Nicholson were linking well down the shortside allowing the ball to be moved across the field and eventually back for Gillard to glide over for yet another unconverted try 10.0. Ross was making plenty of yards from the scrum and was supported well all day in both defence and attack by Howse. Moss was linking well and make good yards on a difficult surface for running rugby. Ross was next over the line for his second a push over try after several energy sapping scrums converted by Ashley 17.0. Didsbury to there credit never gave up and from a quick tap and some poor tackling went under the posts for a converted try and renewed hope 17.7. Kendal again applied pressure close to the Didsbury line and once the forwards rucked the opposition off there own ball Martindale picked up on the stroke of half time to power over 22.7. Bamber came on for Gillard and Dan Boardley for Tomlinson senior at the interval. Kendal again applied the pressure and fitness was starting to show on a heavy pitch. Didsbury worked there way well down field and were rewarded with a penalty for ill discipline by Kendal 22.10. Kendal upped there game from then on in and kept Didsbury in there own half for much the remainder of the game. Moss was replaced by Bowman with 20 mins left. Kendal were now able to release there backs into play and make alot of yards particularly Ashley at centre. Tomlinson was next to score for Kendal after good work from forwards and backs keeping the ball alive allowing for an unconverted try 27.10. Again Kendal moved up field and kept the pressure on as Boardley caught from the line and the ball eventually taken over by Ross for his third of the game Bowman converted 34.10. As Didsbury tired the lively Postlethwaite was rewarded for preserving width firstly to be released by a surging run by Ashley for a converted try 41.10. The same player was again the beneficiary of some more good back play by Coulter to show his electric pace and score in the corner again converted by Bowman 48.10. Coach Nutter said he was pleased with the performance and the standard of the rugby in difficult conditions.
