Kendal 76 Rochdale 0
Kendal were in rampant mood on this damp Saturday afternoon determined to put in a good performance for those that braved the weather, they were not to be disappointed. Andrew Hudson was first bustling over for a converted try by Boardley who missed only 4 conversion attempts all afternoon. 7.0. Boardley was next after a clever inside ball by the forwards he darted under the cover defence and converted 14.0. Kendal were now playing some superb rugby that had been coming for weeks. The ball was been passed by forwards and backs alike producing 2 tries for winger Bamber with the lively Murray putting him in for one and the unselfish Ashley the other 24.0. Again good forward play saw Hudson grab another from close range followed by the try of the half. From the kick off the forwards changed the angle of attack allowing Bowles to put on the after burners and leave all in is wake apart from the supporting Cartmel to score under the sticks. 38.0 at HALF TIME.
The second half saw no let up though Rochdale were still running ball back at Kendal and looking for a score of there own. Next on the score sheet was full back Moss picking up on some scrappy " Dale" play he took over 2 defenders on route to the line 43.0. Hudson was next to cross for his Hat Trick try in similar fashion to the others showing great strength to go over 50.0. Coach Potter made a double substitution pulling off both Wharton and Tilsley for Gimley and brother Rob Tilsley. A towering kick from Hudson was chased and caught allowing the forwards to release Tomlinson to race 30m for a deserved try from the ever improving lock 57.0. Nicholson was been his usual self, tackling and carrying ball superbly the forwards allowing Coulter and Boardley to release the backs time and again. Bamber completed his Hat Trick again a well worked forwards and finished by backs try. 64.0. The next try was all forward power number 8 Ross the beneficiary showing great ball control to dribble it over the line 71.0. The final score of the afternoon was finished by the hard working Ashley after a neat reverse pass from Moss he raced clear 25m to score in the corner Boardley missing but a final score of 76.0. Overall Rochdale were unfortunate enough to come against a Kendal side in this form a result that has been coming for a while said Coach Bowman.
